Connecting Communities Beyond the Airwaves
At Radio Faza, outreach is a vital part of our mission. Beyond broadcasting, we actively engage with communities across Nottingham to build meaningful connections, empower voices, and create opportunities for participation. Our outreach work ensures that community radio is not just heard, but felt, experienced, and shared.
Since 2002, Radio Faza has worked closely with South Asian and Eastern European communities, as well as wider local communities, through events, workshops, partnerships, and public engagement initiatives. Our outreach programmes are designed to reach individuals who may not otherwise have access to media platforms, helping them gain confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging.
Community Engagement & Participation
We collaborate with community groups, schools, charities, faith organisations, and local authorities to deliver inclusive outreach activities. These include community consultations, awareness campaigns, cultural celebrations, and open studio sessions where people can learn about radio, media, and communication. Community members are encouraged to share their stories, raise issues that matter to them, and contribute directly to our content.
Training, Skills & Volunteering
Radio Faza’s outreach programmes provide entry-level access to broadcasting and media training, particularly for young people, women, migrants, and underrepresented groups. Participants gain practical skills in presenting, production, communication, teamwork, and confidence building. Many go on to become regular volunteers and presenters, strengthening their CVs and improving employability.
Events, Roadshows & Live Broadcasting
We take Radio Faza out into the community through roadshows, festivals, workshops, and live broadcasts. From cultural events and awareness days to local campaigns and community celebrations, our outreach presence helps amplify community voices and bring people together in shared spaces.
Listening, Learning & Impact
Outreach at Radio Faza is a two-way process. We actively listen to feedback, learn from community experiences, and adapt our services to better meet local needs. Issues raised through outreach are often reflected in our on-air programming, discussions, and campaigns, ensuring that community concerns are acknowledged and addressed.
